Indian shares fell 0.29 percent on Tuesday, as Asian markets weakened, pushing metal and energy stocks down, dealers said. The benchmark 30-share Sensex index lost 49.1 points to 17,131.08. Weak regional markets pulled the Sensex down, but sporadic buying was seen in mid- and small-cap stocks.
