Taiwan dollar edges up on inflows

The Taiwan dollar closed slightly firmer on Monday underpinned by foreign fund inflows and exporter deals, while a retreat by the greenback globally further bolstered demand for the local currency. However, trade was thin as most investors stayed away after Taiwan's central bank asked officials from local and foreign banks to follow regulations when trading foreign exchange forward contracts, increasing pressure to maintain fund inflows.
