Australian shares dropped 1.0 percent on Monday, retreating to their lowest in nearly three months, after weak local job advertisement data dampened optimism about economic growth prospects. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index fell 45.5 points to 4,524.1, the lowest close since November 5. The index ended January down 6.2 percent for the worst monthly performance since November 2008.
