Hong Kong dollar trapped in tight range

Posted by 7Star Tuesday, March 2, 2010

The Hong Kong dollar was trapped in a narrow range on Monday in cautious trade, as investor sentiment was caught between a rally in the domestic stock market and a generally firmer US dollar. The local currency traded between 7.7618 and 7.7625 during the session, little changed from Friday's rate. Hong Kong shares jumped on Monday, with copper mining stocks supported after a major earthquake in Chile.
