Financials lead Taiwan stocks to highest level
Taiwan shares jumped 3 percent on Thursday to their highest level in six months after US data suggested the global economic slowdown could be moderating, pushing up financials such as Cathay Financial. The financial sub-index was among the top gainers, rising 5.8 percent on expectations the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on financial supervision with China by mid-year would be beneficial for trade.
