UKs top share index rises

Britains top share index ended up 0.3 percent on Monday, squeezing out a second straight day of gains as advances in oils and drugmakers offset falls in banks under pressure after news of further government stake-building. At the close the FTSE 100 was 11.67 points higher at 3,542.4, having touched its lowest point in six years earlier in the session.

Thai share prices close down 1.96 percent

Thai share prices closed 1.96 percent lower on Monday, mainly due to losses in banking stocks, dealers said. They said the Thai bourse fell in line with other regional markets as negative news from the United States about its troubled financial sector deepened worries among investors.
