Singapore shares higher
Singapore shares closed 3.0 percent higher Wednesday, lifted by strong performances in other regional markets, dealers said. The blue chip Straits Times Index (STI) climbed 67.29 points to 2,306.08.

President for finalisation of NFC award before budget or soon after
President Asif Ali Zardari has directed to finalise National Finance Commission Award as soon as possible so that the new NFC Award can be announced either before the upcoming budget or soon after. He was presiding over a meeting with provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants and representatives of political parties at Chief Minister House here on Wednesday.
Categorisation of open-end schemes: SECP lays down Criterion
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has laid down the criterion for categorisation of open-end schemes managed by Asset Management Companies from March 6. The SECP has issued a Circular No 7 of 2009 here on Monday in consultation with the Mutual Funds Association of Pakistan.
