New York cotton futures move higher

Cotton futures finished higher Monday on late investor short-covering as players braced for tomorrows release of a key government plantings report, brokers said. The key May cotton contract rose 1.05 cents to end at 44.39 cents per lb, dealing between 43.05 and 44.92 cents. July gained 1.89 to 45.44 cents.
