Singapore shares soared 4.21 percent on Monday after the US government announced a plan to remove troubled assets from bank balance sheets, dealers said. The blue chip Straits Times Index rose 67.16 points to 1,664.08 on volume of 1.70 billion shares worth 1.11 billion Singapore dollars (732 million US). Gainers outnumbered losers 375 to 114, with 774 issues unchanged.
