Malaysian shares closed down 1.27 percent on Monday due to profit-taking by retail players spurred by concerns that the Americas' swine flu outbreak may turn into a pandemic, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index lost 12.56 points to 980.12, with decliners outnumbering gainers 508 to 188.
