Britains top share index ended down 0.1 percent on Wednesday, albeit well off session lows as Wall Street notched up some modest gains, with weakness in oil issues and banks offsetting a rally by selected miners. At the close, the FTSE 100 was 5.00 points lower at 3,925.52, after falling 1.6 percent on Tuesday, notching up a fourth straight session of losses.
