Chinas main stock index rose 0.56 percent in heavy trade on Tuesday to a five-week closing high, gaining for a seventh day as property and financial shares remained firm although it underperformed overseas markets. The Shanghai Composite Index ended at 2,338.420 points, after opening higher in line with a US stock rally spurred by the release of details on the Obama administrations plan to purge toxic assets from bank balance sheets.
