Singapore shares closed 0.86 percent lower on Wednesday following Wall Streets hefty losses overnight, dealers said. The blue chip Straits Times Index (STI) fell 14.66 points to 1,691.68. Volume traded totalled 1.27 billion shares worth 988 million Singapore dollars (658 million US). Losers outnumbered gainers 219 to 156, with 886 issues unchanged.
